Results of the first competitive day at the "Grand Prix Ivan Yarygin"

The first competitive day took place at the XXXIII International Tournament in freestyle wrestling among men and women "Grand Prix Ivan Yarygin".

   On the first day, men underwent preliminary fights in the weight categories up to 57 kg, 61 kg and 70 kg, and women had preliminary fights in the categories up to 50 kg, 55 kg, 59 kg and 65 kg.

   Two representatives of the Krasnoyarsk Territory have moved far ahead at the tournament. Our athlete Dinara Kudaeva reached the semi-finals in the 65 kg category, but lost to the US representative Patricia Bruntil. In the finals, Bruntil will meet up with her compatriot and Kudaeva will take part in the consolation fight for bronze on January 28. In the 55 kg category another representative of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Ekaterina Isakova reached the final, overcoming her rivals from Mongolia and Russia. In the final, Isakova will also meet with Russian wrestler Irina Ologonova in the evening of January 28.

   In the men's part of the tournament in the category up to 70 kg, the Krasnoyarsk athlete Usman Shakhgiriev, who plays for the Russian team, reached the semifinals, where he lost to Russian Viktor Rassadin. In the parallel semi-finals, the representative of the Krasnoyarsk Territory could not get past Russian Anzor Zakuev. Now the athletes will compete for bronze in the consolation round, which will take place in the morning of January 28.

   Competitions take place from 27 to 30 January. The opening ceremony will take place on January 28 at 5:30 p.m.

   This year, more than 300 people from 11 countries of the world take part in the tournament, including the USA, Albania, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Russia. At the tournament the medals in 10 weight categories for women and men will be contested. Following the results of the Ivan Yarygin tournament, the main squad of the national team for the European Championship 2022 will be formed.
